Everything has the positive and the negative aspect including the conventional hives medication. The positive side is how it is beneficial to the well being of the human while the negative side is the implications that follow its usage as side-effects and the financial effect on the user’s budget.
Pros of the conventional urticaria medication
* The conventional medicine has been tested and approved by different bodies as the FDA-Food and Drugs Administration.
* It has specific dosage that has been investigated and proven to be effective on different patients.
* The side-effects have been specified and steps taken to curb them; the severity has been reduced to the level possible to eliminated chances of fatality.
* In case of overdose there are remedial procedures that can be used to counteract it where other measures are used hence the extent of damage is drastically reduced if urgent action is taken in good time.
* The risk groups have been identified as expectant and lactating mothers, convalescents and people with other health conditions or under different medications. These groups are advised respectively on how to use or not to use the conventional drugs.
Cons of the conventional hives medication
* There is huge financial engagement demanded as the conventional drugs take a long time to achieve the required goal.
* It is not recommend for use in some classes of people as lactating and pregnant mothers, heart, liver, and kidney disorder patients. This due to the adverse effect they have on the patient or the unborn and born child. In some cases the drugs have been thought stimulate miscarriages or lead to the birth of deformed children
* They are easily or likely to be misused due to being available ‘over the counter’. The depressants used in treatment of conditions as stress have been abused resulting to addiction and other numerous complications.
* Due to the long duration needed to be used, some people have overdosed on the same as they wish to fasten the healing process.
* Some of the drugs are allergic in some people hence complicate the hives condition as more complications are introduced.
* Like all other medications conventional medicine comes with side-effects that range from mild to severe.
* Sometimes the drugs can react with other compounds found in foods and other medicines thus creating more problems.
* The newer non sedating drugs are less effective hence demand the addition of the older sedating or the introduction of steroids which are not very healthy to use especially over long periods. Some of the steroids products are classified as narcotics with negative effects as addition, cardiac complications, respiratory disorders, overdose due to accumulation in the body and many other negative effects on the body.
Conventional anti-histamine medication is the mainstay of the urticaria treatment; despite the cons listed above. In many cases they have proved very effective causing minimal damage when well administered especially under the supervision of licensed medical practitioners. The advantages over shadow the disadvantages for they can even be used to cure other ailments in the body resulting from infections as of bacteria and virus, stress and other underlying conditions which are not yet visible.
