Will they ever get it and stop blaming “feminists” because women tend to outlive men?

Question by Hunny Bunny: Will they ever get it and discontinue faulting “feminists” because women be given to outlive men?
Here is yet one MORE reason: a better diet (“you are what you eat” after all): “If men are from Mars and women are from Venus, then Mars is a land where the refrigerators are stocked with meat and stopped dead pizza and Venus has a bounty of yogurt, fruits and vegetables, a fresh study suggests. The study of eating habits of adults named the most comprehensive of its kind was a telephone survey of 14,000 Americans. It corroborated accepted wisdom that most men eat more meat than women, and women eat more fruits and vegetables.”http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/080319/health/health_diet_eating_by_sexWhat will it take for men to take more responsibility for their personal health???Until the 1970′s it wasn’t bankable to show an enceinte woman on television. If you appear at episodes of “I Love Lucy” you will never see a shot of her smooth body while she was pregnant with ‘little Ricky’. In fact, the censors interdicted the word “pregnant” because it was considered indecent: in its place, the word ‘expecting’ was utilized. Of course, nobody could use the word ‘breast’ in courteous company as in BREAST CANCER. Things have only changed recently: if the words ‘pregnancy’ and ‘breast’ couldn’t be used in common, then how much energy and how much accumulating traveled into searching medical conditions ad hoc to women, d’ya think? And preacher ken: some rant, you’re toast.

As a man I can state that we don’t care how abundant we dwell because we’re traveling to dwell forever. ha ha. so there. All jesting aside men care less about their health than women and that’s not going to change any time soon. It has nothing to do with “taking resposibility” it has to do with it being an issue men are pertained about. Most aren’t. And women are always going to have longer lifespans than men. It has to do with brain chemistry, levels of stress, how we deal with stress, temperment, and tons more. The disagreeing factors somehow give women a gross advantage in life expectancy

wait…it’s our fault men die first too!!!!!
ok I’m now feeling a little over whelmed…or it might be that it’s almost 4 in the morning here.
told y’all…
feminism is the only social movement that is expected to fix every single problem in this world…or we are hypocritical.

My grandma lived to be 94 before she died of natural causes. Her “secret”: she ate LOTS of fruits and veggies, and when she did eat meat, it wasn’t red meat. It was turkey, chicken, or fish- salmon and halibut that my grandfather made frequent trips to Alaska to catch. She also took vitamins every single day for years. She also had a relaxed, positive outlook on life, and many warm, caring relationships with family and friends.
But then again, grandma smoked cigarettes until she was well into her 80′s and she had an affinity to scotch.
Go figure!

These studies! Well, duh, tell me anyone you know who doesn’t already know that men tend to eat more meat. I’m not making the connection between men not living as long and “feminists” getting the blame for it. Please explain. Keep in mind that lifespans are “average” and that one of the reasons men have an average shorter lifespan is that many die young. Of the 20 or so people I have known who died fairly young(at less than 50), all but one was a man. The men died in accidents, from booze, drugs and cancer. Women tend to be more careful about everything, and unless we manage to make men who don’t have testosterone, I doubt if the differing lifespans are going to change a lot.
And it’s hard to generalize. My granny is still alive at 97, and I never saw anyone eat as much meat as she does, man or woman.

There are a few things you are overlooking. For one, far more men die in industrial accidents then do women. Most often this is because it allows these men to provide for their families and this does include women.
Even though we have this so called equal military, still 99% of those that do the dying are men…young men and it would seem that this would effect the average life expectancy.
Still we do the health care gap which is still in effect…only it is not in the way most are lead to believe…..It was NEVER in favor of men.
I doubt if there was ever a health care gap in favor of men. It is based upon feminist MS information. All they need to do is to put out a claim that ONLY 25% of all health research is for women’s diseases and then hint about the rest and the sheep will immediately think that the other 75% go for men. It does NOT. What they do not tell you is that 12.5% go for men specific disease and the other 62.% go for GENDER NEUTRAL disease.
(figures are an example and are not the actual stats)
National Institutes of Health Retracts Women’s Heath Exclusion Statement
Rockville, MD — In a stunning reversal, the National Institutes of Health has issued three letters that repudiate earlier claims that women were neglected by medical research. In a February 21, 2001 letter to Men’s Health America, the NIH Office of Research on Women’s Health agreed to retract a 1997 statement that “women were routinely excluded from medical research supported by NIH.”
Earlier, the NIH National Institute of Mental Health had agreed to withdraw and revise a fact sheet that made the erroneous allegation, “Historically, research studies were conducted only with men.”
The third letter repudiated the widespread perception that women were shortchanged by medical research. “Women have been included in NIH-supported research for decades,” according to a January 10, 2001 letter from William Harlan, MD, NIH associate director for disease prevention. “Women have been included with overall equivalency in most observational epidemiological studies when the conditions commonly affect both genders.” Harlan also pointed out that in the areas of cancer, diabetes, and reproduction, women had received more research attention than men.
The NIH retraction follows the publication of a report in the journal of Controlled Clinical Trials (October 2000) that analyzed 342 clinical trials published in 5 leading medical journals in 1985 and 1990. The trials enrolled 343,675 females, compared to 126,234 males. Johns Hopkins researcher Curtis Meinert, PhD also reported in the article that women had participated in 71% of all heart disease clinical trials from 1966-1985.
Columnist Cathy Young noted in a recent Boston Globe editorial, “The myth of women’s medical neglect has bred needless resentment in many women.”
One example….prostate cancer kills almost as many men as breast cancer does women. When is the last time you saw information on prostate cancer? When is that last time you heard about fund rasing for it? How about either for breast cancer? In reality, I heard more about breast cancer and seen more fund rasiser for it during Prostate Cancer Awarenes WEEK then I did anything about prostate cancer.
There is a well funded Office of Women’s Health. and there was a Office of Men’s Health that was just authorized a couple of years ago. Their budget? $ 0.00 You can not even by a ream of paper on that budget my friend.
DHHS Secretary Tommy Thompson has just released his proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2002 (www.hhs.gov/budget/pdf/hhs2002.pdf).
His budget includes $ 0 for an Office of Men’s Health.
In contrast, the DHHS Office of Women’s Health is slated for a whopping $ 10 million increase, from $ 17 million in FY 2001 to $ 27 million in FY 2002.
(It has gotten worse since that time)
It was feminist organizations that lead many to believe there was a major gap in health care for women….why should they not get the blame for the fact that it appears they do not mind if MEN DIE….so that women can be more more comfortable?

The reason why feminism is blamed for women generally out-living men is because their are WAY more services in the health system for women than their is men. And for your information women get 90% of the funding for cancer research, which is sexist because of FEMINISM.

Because men have xy chromosone and women, xx, the y is weeker than the x so the y ages faster wich is why women live longer.

I find the fact that no matter how reasonable the post (and yours is informative), the non-stop anti-feminist whining never stops. IT NEVER STOPS.

Women outlive men largely because they no longer die in childbirth en masse. This has very little to do with diet, feminism, or much at all except improved medical techniques and the discovery of antibiotics.

Why don’t people ^^^^ understand that the “health care gap” exists because of PREGNANCY AND CHILDBIRTH….it’s pretty expensive, you know. THAT is included in the amount of money spent on “women’s health care.” If you took that away, I wonder how much of a “gap” would be left? Not much.
