Nails care Tips for better nails

May 9th, 2012  |  Published in Sexual Health

There’s no doubt about the fact that getting your nails done professionally by a is worth the money if only because of the pampering that comes with it.  But did you know that nails are one of the last parts of our body to receive blood and nutrients during times of illness. Therefore, nail appearance is a signal of vitamin or mineral deficiency or body changes. But that is not the whole story, and is also very important.

Our nails are colorless and transparent. Healthy nails would usually appear pink because of the abundance of blood vessels under the skin. The nail’s tissue is called the matrix and the white moon-like lunula is at the top of the matrix. Below that is the nail bed, where the nail attaches to the body. The cuticle grows down over the nail bed and forms a watertight seal that protects the matrix against infection or foreign objects. Watch out for manicures or pedicures that cut away the cuticle because by doing so they increase the chance of getting a nail infection.

Natural estheticians do not use chemical nail hardeners or conditioners as part of their repertoire. These products do not stimulate growth or strength. They contain clear nail polish, which must be removed with damaging solvents. The solvents strip away the nail’s natural moisture. Before you know it, the nail’s keratin, or protein, is damaged and your nails peel and chip. Natural treatments include using aloe vera for its healing properties, in combination with oils such as primrose, camellia or almond as emollients. Fruit acids are added to soften the cuticles, allowing them to be pushed back.

A diet made up of fruits and vegetables to ensure vitamin and mineral absorption is beneficial for you and your nails. It should also incorporate whole grains, nuts and foods that are high in iron and protein. Drinking fresh-squeezed carrot juice daily will provide a first-rate source of calcium and phosphorus needed to strengthen your nails. Silica is necessary for the formation of strong healthy nails. It can be obtained by brewing up a cup of herbal horsetail and oat straw tea, or from a colloidal silicea supplement. Horsetail also is high in the amino acid L-cysteine. This amino acid is additionally found in the herb coltsfoot and contains sulfur, which is required in skin and nail growth

Growth And Development – Why Is A Person Short?

December 28th, 2011  |  Published in Sexual Health

Do you want to grow taller? What makes you think that you are short anyway? Looking at a person is not the basis of height. Someone may look at you as a short, but some may look at you as tall. Your stature would be depending on how other people see you. And being not that tall must not lower down yourself esteem. There are certain causes why you do not have that height, and you shouldn’t blame it on yourself alone.

There are reasons why people do not have the right height, or most likely as what we term as those who are experiencing short stature. These issues can be treated and some are not possible to treat. One of the main reasons why a child is short in terms of height is because of genetic attributes.

Knowing that your mom and dad have these traits makes you prone to the same genetic composition as well. Because of genetics, being a child of parents that are short in height makes you short as well. There are other physical characteristics that one may inherit from the parents, like for instance the hair, the skin color, and the eye color.

The good news is that, even if your parents are both short in height, you may be able to grow taller than them for about several inches. Because of today’s new researches regarding medical technology as well as proven, height programs that really works, a child may grow taller than their short parents. Added to these are also nutritional programs that would help a person who wants to grow taller gain a few more inches in height by getting the necessary nutrition, he or she needs in eating foods rich in vitamins and minerals, which are known to be growth enhancers.

The failure of a person to grow taller and have the body develop, may be due to growth failure conditions that no possible treatment can be done, and these conditions may be categorized as congenital, systemic and endocrine conditions. Some people have their children go through a growth hormone treatments,  but the results do not put an end to the doubt if it does work or not.

What is important here is that, you can still take your chances through getting the right nutrition that your body needs. Try living a healthy lifestyle, with frequent exercises, and a complete 9-hour sleep. You may want to see if height programs could work for you. With a lot of determination and persistence, you may be able to gain that few inches you want to grow taller.

Why Stretching Matters and How to Maximize Your Stretches

December 23rd, 2011  |  Published in Sexual Health

When most people think about exercise, they think of strength training and cardiovascular activities, e.g. lifting weights and running on the treadmill.  A good fitness program definitely involves doing both of these sorts of exercise, but it also includes a third often overlooked type of exercise – stretching.  Most people think of stretching as something you do for sore muscles or as a quick supplement for cardio or lifting.  However, these people fail to recognize the importance that stretching has on being fit.  Stretching provides you with a half dozen serious benefits; and anyone who wants to maximize their health should take stretching seriously.

Stretching initially promotes a greater range of movement and circulation through the joints.  This is excellent because it allows you to maximize your regular exercise.  By promoting good range of muscle movement through joints, you will be ensuring that your muscles can move in the ways needed to lift weights or cycle.  Often people injure themselves with their muscles are too tight to perform a motion the way it ought to be done, and stretching can help prevent problems like this.

Stretching is one of the easiest ways to promote blood flow and circulation to the muscles that need it.  Increased blood flow provides a two-way street that helps muscles perform better with less effort.  On the one hand, the increased blood flow is able to bring oxygen and nutrients to the muscles in order to provide them with the energy they need to function properly.  On the other hand, the blood flow is there to flush out waste products that build up when muscles work out, including lactic acid.  Stretching also provides a low impact way to condition muscles and tendons.  The better conditioned your muscles are, the less prone to injury and soreness they are.

By stretching before you engage in cardio or weight training, you will be warming up muscles and promoting blood flow and circulation; which is a definite way to enhance your workout.  However, just as important as stretching before running or lifting, is stretching after the exercise.  Post-exercise stretches help develop new flexibility and strength in muscles and tendons, and provide better conditioning to prevent injury.  Post-exercise stretches are also a good way to even out blood circulation and flush out the damaging lactic acid buildup.

One thing that everyone serious about stretching should know is that protein is a needed nutrient to promote healthy stretching.  Protein helps repair torn muscle fiber and can maximize the benefits that come from stretching.  One of the easiest ways to get added protein into your diet is through a whey protein supplement.  Whey protein is easier for the body to digest than soy protein, and provides better utilization and absorption into the body.  The reason you want to take protein in supplement form is for this reason, you want your body to quickly absorb the nutrients and get the nutrients to the parts of the body that need them.

How to Avoid Muscle Soreness

December 12th, 2011  |  Published in Sexual Health

The day or two after a workout, you will almost certainly feel some muscle soreness.  This dull ache and pain is natural, and isn’t something you should be worried about.  However, just because you shouldn’t worry about it, doesn’t mean you ought to just put up with it.  Nobody needs to feel uncomfortable after a workout.  There are two surefire ways to avoid muscle soreness: stretching and providing your body with protein.  Best of all, both of these are natural, not chemical.

In order to understand how to avoid the aches and pains of muscle soreness, it’s important to understand where it comes from.  Many people think that muscle soreness is the result of lactic acid buildup around the muscles.  However, recent research has shown that this isn’t actually true.  Your muscles do produce lactic acid during strenuous activity; but that lactic acid typically drains and dissolves within thirty minutes to one hour after ceasing the workout and activity.  So what causes the soreness if it isn’t lactic acid?  Most experts agree that during strenuous activity your muscles become damaged.  One way is that your muscles can get inflamed and swollen because of the increased blood flow during strenuous activity, thereby exciting the pain receptors nearby.  Another way is that muscle fibers are torn and damaged when the muscle is doing the work.  This tear and inflammation is what causes most of the muscle ache that people feel after their workouts.  And it is something that you can prevent.

While many people deal with the ache and pain of muscle soreness using chemical anti-inflammatory drugs like acetaminophen, aspirin or ibuprofen.  These drugs can help reduce pain caused by inflammation and swelling, but they don’t do anything to strengthen muscles or repair the damage muscle tissue.  Instead of resorting to a chemical “band-aid” fix; stretching and proper nutrition can deal with the problem head on.

The importance of stretching to maintaining a healthy lifestyle is immense.  Most importantly, stretching does three things that help deal with muscle ache.  First, stretching increases joint flexibility and range of motion; this helps avoid wear and tear on ligaments and tendons in joints.  Second, stretching is a great way to reduce muscle tension.  Flexible and elastic muscles aren’t as easily torn or damaged as stiff and static muscle.  The most important benefit of stretching is that it increases circulation (blood flow) which helps increase energy output on the muscles.  Stretching before exercising will help maximize the exercise by warming up muscle groups and moving the blood to make sure muscles are well oxygenated.  Post-exercise stretching helps to remove the lactic acid buildup, and also to maintain healthy blood flow to the muscle groups.  This blood flow is how the body delivers amino acids to the damaged muscle tissue; amino acids are what repair the damage.

The best way to get amino acids into the body is through protein in your diet and the easiest way to get protein after a workout is through a whey protein shake.  Whey protein shakes have two benefits: they are whey-based, and they are shakes.  Whey protein is easily digestible and soft on the body compared to other supplemental protein sources.  And getting protein in the form of a shake provides the added benefit of hydrating a sore body, which helps flush out impurities and promotes healing.  Good stretching and whey protein can make muscle ache disappear: reducing the need for chemical pain relievers and helping you get back in the gym.

Why Aren’t You Using Skin Hydration Products?

November 27th, 2011  |  Published in Sexual Health

Just imagine if you had to do without water for a long period of time. Skin hydration is as important to our bodies as the thirst we quench to satisfy our other hydration requirements.

One of the important aspects of keeping the skin looking more supple and wrinkle free is to keep it hydrated. The products you will find are like most products that claim what they can do for the skin.

There are ones that do what they say and others that do not. The best way to find out what hydration products will help your skin is to do a little research.

A skin hydrating mask is one of the way to replenish the moisture in your face. This should be done about twice a week if you have dry spots.

The improvement you see will be firmer skin and a gradual change in the way your face looks. There will be noticeable improvements that will be commented on – wait and see.

The best type of hydrating mask is one with allantoin, Rigin, manuka honey, coenzyme Q10, avacado oil, Vitamin E and Cynergy TK. These ingredients have all been shown to be good for the skin and many may be considered home remedies for skin hydration.

Oils from the avacado have been used by many people experimenting with different types of fruit to see if they would have an effect on the skin. Another good hydrating oil is macadamia oil.

Skin hydration is not just for women, either. Men can benefit from using a moisturizing product such as a hydrating mask every couple of weeks.

You might be surprised to know that many products that are called moisturizer or hydrating products have no moisturizing ingredients. There are some that have been used for years as home remedies for hydration that actually do not help your skin stay hydrated.

One in particular is mineral oil. This and many other products that are petroleum based have been used to moisturize skin for a long time.

Guess what? They do not moisturize the skin. They only leave behind an oily feel and end up causing break-outs because they clog your pores.

They not only keep your skin from getting the moisture it needs, but they can cause many other problems that can take weeks to clear. The best skin hydration product will have no fragrances or preservatives added.

These two products, when used in facial creams can cause allergic reactions. The most natural product you can find when looking for the best moisturizing product is what you want.

A very good product when looking for a good moisturizer for the face is grape seed oil. The oil contains antioxidants that will help fight free radicals and keep you looking younger.

Shea butter is another product that is considered good for the face. This is normally used before going to bed for the night.

The products that you use will decide how quickly your face has less noticeable signs of aging. The use of olive oil is another of the home remedies for hydration that has been in use for years.

Now that you know this, it is time to start looking for the products you know will aid in skin hydration. This is the best way to fight the aging signs that have crept upon you.

Kalpana strongly advocates Natural Skincare and beauty products to protect your skin, avoid harmful reactions and enhance youthful looks. To get critical tips on natural skin care products, please visit her website now at ==>

5 Exercise Tools to bring when Traveling

November 9th, 2011  |  Published in Sexual Health

Anyone serious about fitness must dread traveling for business or pleasure.  While many hotels have gyms; you never know if their gym hours will match your availability or if the equipment is what you want.  While you always need to travel light, there are five tools that everyone can fit into their luggage that can help you get all the exercise needed to stay fit while on the go.

Pack ankle and wrist weights.  These work for any exercise you normally use a free weight or dumbbell form, but have the added benefit of packing quickly and easily.  I recommend wearing your weights when running around airports to double up your travel time making connections or waiting for boarding.  Put them on when doing squats, sit-ups and push-ups for added weight and resistance.  They can also help turn a morning jog from a cardio calorie-burn into a lean muscle building activity.

Speaking of morning jogs; the biggest mistake most people make when traveling is not bringing along athletic shoes or sneakers.  Even if you aren’t a runner, pack a pair of tennis shoes and spend some time wearing them.  Walk the hotel corridors or go up and down the stairs, enjoy a morning stroll along Main Street or in a nearby park.  Having good athletic shoes will allow you to take these walks with less chance of injury and stress on your feet, making the exercise more enjoyable and less painful.

Another great tool to bring with you is a tennis ball or racquet ball.  No, the point isn’t to play tennis or racquetball: although, if the hotel has courts those CAN be great ways to get a workout in.  Instead, grip the ball in one hand and squeeze as hard as you can to provide your forearms and hands with a good strength building exercise.  A racquet ball packs light and takes up little space, making it an ideal choice for an exercise like this.

Resistance bands also pack light and are helpful when doing a variety of exercises.  A resistance band and related exercises provide basic arm and strength training.  There are many exercises available with resistance bands, but one great exercise is to use resistance bands while performing squats.  Squats alone are great lower body strength, but by stepping on the resistance band shoulder length apart and holding them at chest level, you will expand the benefits of the squat to your upper body as well.  Another great resistance band exercise is to ones are using resistance bands during squats and

Finally, one tool that almost everyone forgets is the proper nutrition your body needs to sustain exercise and strength training.  A lightweight choice is to bring whey protein supplements.  Most whey protein comes in a powdered form which you add to water to make a tasty and nutritious whey protein shake.  Since your hotel or motel will provide the water, all you are packing is the lightweight powder.  Whey protein provides your muscles with the right sort of building blocks to both develop and maintain lean muscle.

The Dangers of Aspartame (Artificial Sweeteners Sugarfree Diet Coke Zero No Sugar Added E951)

September 14th, 2010  |  Published in Women's Health

Aspartame (E951) is an artificial sweetener, used in over 6000 products. The food industry claims that aspartame helps in losing weight, but why is obesity then becoming such an ever increasing problem? www.naturalnews.com Aspartame is a very sweet chemical, responsible for a host of health problems such as obesity, diabetes, cancer, brain diseases, migraines, ADHD, etc. www.naturalnews.com www.wnho.net Aspartame breaks down into three toxic components: 1. Methanol. This is poisonous alcohol. In the body, methanol breaks down into formaldehyde, which is a poison. 2. Phenylalanine. This decreases the amount serotonin in your brain, which leads to mood swings (depressions) and an increased appetite! That is why aspartame is one of the main causes for the current obesity epidemic. 3. Aspartic acid. This is a neurological toxin comparable to MSG. The US Department of Health has recorded 92 (!) symptoms following complaints about aspartame. In fact, over 80% of all complaints filed with FDA are related to aspartame consumption! www.321recipes.com Some of the brand names for aspartame: AminoSweet, NutraSweet, Equal, NatraTaste, Canderel, Spoonful, Equal-Measure, etc. Aspartame is used in any of the following products: Sugarfree, Light, Diet, Zero (Coke, Sprite & Fanta), Coke 007, Pepsi Max, Crystal Clear, Low-Calorie, Crystal Light, No Sugar Added, Smint, Stimorol Ice, Stimorol Fusion, Freedent, Mentos, Sportlife, etc. Do no longer believe the lies of the food industry and the

Weight Loss and its Relation to Sexual Health

July 1st, 2010  |  Published in Men's Health

Everyone’s going gaga over the latest diet craze being hyped by the media or the newest workout program to hit the fitness scene. New weight loss pills are being introduced one after another and have flooded the market competing for sales. People everywhere seem to be in that “lose the excess pounds” psyche:  “Thin is sexy!”. “Lean is hot!”.  “Rip those biceps.” “Flaunt your abs.”

Back in the 80′s, Olivia Newton-John popularized the song “Let’s Get Physical” which promoted fitness and about the same time, physical fitness videos by celebrities flooded the market such as the legendary Jane Fonda Aerobics Videos.  Even John Travolta’s dance movie, “Staying Alive” capitalized on the fact that the then-emerging star was being mentored by no less than Sylvester Stallone for his physical fitness program to fit the role to a “T”.

In today’s world where survival of the fittest becomes the name of the game, being overweight is considered absolutely unsexy.  The message is clear as you see it on tv, billboards, and magazines. Has everyone gone self-conscious?  Let’s face it.  It’s not just about vanity or feeling good about yourself.  It’s about living a healthy lifestyle.  The universal need to look and feel sexually desirable just comes secondary.  Whether you like it or not, being overweight is unattractive and can pose serious consequences in one’s health condition.

How true is it that for every pound you lose, the more sexually desirable you become?  Though there are people who prefer sexual partners who are on the voluptous side, a great number still prefer having the right curves and bulges at the right places.   However, being sexually attractive is not the only goal we need to consider. Whether you are a man or a woman, you are responsible to always keep your body in good condition, if not in perfect shape. Losing weight can improve the sexual health of both men and women.  The couple becomes more aware of each others new size.  Their sexual senses have become more attuned to the sexual stimuli which they receive and therefore increases their sexual pleasure.  By having slimmer bodies, both the man and the woman becomes comfortable with their bodies and they tend to enjoy each other better when it comes to their sexual activities, as compared to overweight couples. It is no longer just a physical thing, it becomes an emotional factor.

Obesity and Infertility

It is believed that obesity could greatly affect male sexual health concerning infertility.  According to the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS),”overweight men are significantly more likely to be infertile than normal-weight men, and that for every 20-pound body weight gain in men there is a ten per cent increase in infertility.”  Though statistics show that women are more prone to obesity that men, still, this clearly shows that men should also take care of their weight for their health’s sake.

On the other hand, obese women are particularly susceptible to increase in blood pressure than their male counterparts.  There is also higher risk of cancers such as postmenopausal breast cancer and endometrial cancer, diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

Body Image and Healthy Weight

For all its worth, men and women alike should maintain an ideal body weight and image.  Body image is the way we project ourselves and how we perceive and imagine the response of others.  It is not inborn, therefore, we can do something about it.  Healthy weight is the size which a person achieves based on the goal initially set in accordance with the person’s physical condition as determined by a medical professional.
People try to find sensible and sustainable ways to achieve and maintain a healthy weight on a long term basis.   Maintain a healthy diet, exercise regularly, lead a vice-free lifestyle, and all the good things in life will be added unto you as well.
