Mother Nature has a remedy for psoriasis, eczema and rheumatism

December 30th, 2011  |  Published in Sexual Health

If you suffer from psoriasis, eczema or rheumatism then you will know that despite the efforts of medical science to find a cure, none exist! There are many psoriasis, eczema and rheumatism “remedies” out there on the market but, at best, they bring limited and temporary relief and, at worse, can cause harm because of the chemicals used in their production.

In modern society, we are all too aware of the preference for natural solutions to medical problems. Such a solution exists for psoriasis, eczema and rheumatism and it’s called the Dead Sea.

OK – I can hear you now: “But that’s miles away”, “It’ll cost a fortune, and what happens after?” and “What about the family?” Read on – it’ll be worth your while!

The Dead Sea – truly excellent value for money

Scientific research has shown what people knew 5000 years ago, that the water and mud of the Dead Sea, combined with its dry air have a remarkable therapeutic effect, especially on sufferers from psoriasis, eczema or rheumatism.

Mineral rich water and mud that clean and revitalize the skin, clean dry air that lets your skin breath and recuperate, sunlight with very low levels of UV radiation that also replenish your skins growth and health. All in all, a perfect package for patients with psoriasis, eczema and rheumatism.

I know what you’re saying “Get to the point!” OK, here it is

A course of treatment at the Dead Sea will clear up all the damage caused to your skin by psoriasis or eczema and bring relief from rheumatoid pain for up to one year with no need for booster treatments. What’s more, when signs of the complaint begin to reappear, its development is slower and less aggressive.

And there is one more benefit – taking a vacation with the entire family in one of the most amazing spots on earth.

So, what do you say now?

Increasing Height Begins With Early Childhood

December 29th, 2011  |  Published in Sexual Health

We are aware that everything that we experience by childhood is our stepping stone as we reach adulthood. Every activity that takes place in our body during childhood is the best basis of our growth and development in the time yet to come.

Nowadays, height is very important. From applying to jobs, to getting chosen for an audition, being tall gives you a very good advantage. That is the reason why a lot of people are now looking for ways to become taller.

Even during childhood, children experience the same discriminating factors when it comes to height. These children are most likely the ones being bullied and they are the one’s who are being called names when in the playground.

As parents we see to it that our children should be able to deal with these peer pressure, as well as challenges in facing issues with the society. If height is the issue, then we look for ways to become taller.

Growth and development starts from early childhood, so if parents would be able to find ways to maximize the options that they can make use of in helping their children grow naturally, then that would be of great help.

It is important that at an early age, the parents should teach their children to eat healthy food, get plenty of exercise, and obtain a good night’s sleep. If  your child is not that much engaged in doing those routine exercises in the morning, you can have him or her join a sports activity, that would make your child’s body more active.

As parents, you should be good examples to your children. If you maintain a healthy lifestyle, then they would do the same. You should get rid of those unhealthy habits that may be detrimental to your and your child’s health, like for instance smoking.

If you aim for your child’s ability to become taller as he or she grows, and you would like to get fast results on this. You may have to consult a specialist that can deal with a child’s hormonal balance to see what options they have in store for your child.

Growth And Development – Why Is A Person Short?

December 28th, 2011  |  Published in Sexual Health

Do you want to grow taller? What makes you think that you are short anyway? Looking at a person is not the basis of height. Someone may look at you as a short, but some may look at you as tall. Your stature would be depending on how other people see you. And being not that tall must not lower down yourself esteem. There are certain causes why you do not have that height, and you shouldn’t blame it on yourself alone.

There are reasons why people do not have the right height, or most likely as what we term as those who are experiencing short stature. These issues can be treated and some are not possible to treat. One of the main reasons why a child is short in terms of height is because of genetic attributes.

Knowing that your mom and dad have these traits makes you prone to the same genetic composition as well. Because of genetics, being a child of parents that are short in height makes you short as well. There are other physical characteristics that one may inherit from the parents, like for instance the hair, the skin color, and the eye color.

The good news is that, even if your parents are both short in height, you may be able to grow taller than them for about several inches. Because of today’s new researches regarding medical technology as well as proven, height programs that really works, a child may grow taller than their short parents. Added to these are also nutritional programs that would help a person who wants to grow taller gain a few more inches in height by getting the necessary nutrition, he or she needs in eating foods rich in vitamins and minerals, which are known to be growth enhancers.

The failure of a person to grow taller and have the body develop, may be due to growth failure conditions that no possible treatment can be done, and these conditions may be categorized as congenital, systemic and endocrine conditions. Some people have their children go through a growth hormone treatments,  but the results do not put an end to the doubt if it does work or not.

What is important here is that, you can still take your chances through getting the right nutrition that your body needs. Try living a healthy lifestyle, with frequent exercises, and a complete 9-hour sleep. You may want to see if height programs could work for you. With a lot of determination and persistence, you may be able to gain that few inches you want to grow taller.

Possible Leukemia Causes and Risk Factors

December 23rd, 2011  |  Published in Sexual Health

Leukemia is a disease that is considered to be life-threatening. It requires prompt intervention when discovered, in order to maximize the chances of recovering through specific treatment and therapy. Leukemia is basically a type of cancer of the bone marrow and blood, caused by inappropriate cellular activity. The disease can be of different forms, according to the types of blood cells that cause its development. Also, if leukemia is developing rapidly, it is called acute leukemia, while if the disease is developing slowly, it is referred to as chronic leukemia.

The direct leukemia causes are still unknown. In present, medical science isn’t able to establish the specific leukemia causes. However, a strong connection between certain genetic factors and the development of the disease has been revealed. Leukemia occurs on the background of genetic failure that causes the excessive production of incomplete, partially matured blood cells. Also, leukemia has a hereditary character, allowing the transmission of genetic predispositions to disease from one generation to another. Although many factors are known to contribute to the development of leukemia, they alone can’t be considered leukemia causes.

Despite the fact that statistics indicate a higher incidence of the disease in people that are exposed to some environmental factors of risk, leukemia doesn’t seem to be caused by neither of them in particular. Among the environmental factors that are thought to be leukemia causes, here are some of the most plausible ones:

- Smoking – smoking is thought to increase the chances of being affected by leukemia. Although statistics show that around 20 percent of acute leukemia cases are related to smoking, leukemia also occurs to people that don’t smoke and therefore it can’t be considered a leukemia cause on itself;

- Prolonged exposure to radiation – Radiation is considered to facilitate the development of leukemia. It is believed that exposure to X-rays can be a leukemia cause;

- Prolonged exposure to benzene – statistics reveal that this is a major factor of risk in some forms of leukemia, such as myelogenous leukemia;

- Chemotherapy and cancer treatment – previous cancer treatments and chemotherapy are known to facilitate the occurrence and development of leukemia and can be considered plausible leukemia causes. Within a few years from the completion of chemotherapy and other treatments for certain forms of cancer, most people can develop leukemia.

Among the genetic factors that are considered to be leukemia causes, the following ones are thought to be the most important:

- chromosome abnormalities – some rare genetic syndromes are known to contribute to leukemia causes;

- Immune system genetic problems – a weak immune system is very likely to facilitate the occurrence of leukemia and therefore can be considered a leukemia cause;

- Down syndrome – children born with this syndrome have a very high risk of developing acute leukemia.

The list of possible leukemia causes can continue further, but these are the most common factors that are considered to be interrelated with leukemia. While some of them can be prevented, others reside within the genes and in present can’t be corrected. In future, however, thanks to medical advance, we will probably be able to prevent leukemia and other forms of cancer.

Recognizing the Warning Signs of Autism

November 23rd, 2011  |  Published in Sexual Health

How can you tell if your child has autism?

This is a question that has perhaps puzzled many parents, especially those with children showing unusual red flags pointing to autism. However, knowing whether one has autism or not can be a very difficult, strenuous, and often emotional task. The person involved, after all, can be loved one, a child, a relative-and, naturally, you wouldn’t want them to be afflicted by this horrible disorder. Still, the task must be done, no matter how difficult it is. Unfortunately, the signs are not as clear cut as they could be. For one, autism is not like a simple ailment like a fever where you can use a thermometer to measure whether one is inflicted by autism or not. Experts do tests do determine the presence of the ailment, of course, but how do you determine if you need to bring your child to the professionals for a more comprehensive analysis of the situation.

Many say that autism cannot fully be assessed until the child has reached the age of two. At this age, certain developmental signs can become more pronounced, hence making the assessment easier. But there are certain signs that can help you determine early on.

For instance, by the age of six months above, you can detect early signs of the disorder by checking the child’s social and oral skills. When the child does not coo or babble, does not make eye contact, or does not smile, your “red flags” should be raised, although might say you should wait for a few more months to check for other signs. Other “signs” at this point include: non-participation or non-response in any vocal activities and non-response to any game or activity that require their reaction (a peek a boo game, for instance).

At the age of one, the child should show attempts to speak, point, wave, respond when being called by name, grasp-or, basically, just to simply react. One of the main and most assuring sign of autism is indifference, the lack of reaction to any activity, sound, or visual elements around him. An autistic child, in turn, may also be overly sensitive to certain smells, sounds, and/or textures. Furthermore, if the child is prone to making repetitive actions or motions, along with other signs, parents should bring their child to experts right away. Other red flags: resistance to chance and an unusual attachment to a particular object.

At age two, the signs should be more pronounced. Along with the cited warning signs, other autism red flags include lack of joyful expression, indifference to social activities, loss of speech (by the child’s 24th month, he should be able to at least say two-word phrases that are meaningful or not simply imitated from someone else), among others.

Generally, the three main criteria of these sign are: impaired social interaction, restricted movement and interests, and impaired communication skills.

Obviously, as one could tell from these signs, it may be possible to tell if a child has autism at an early age, although it is not a possibility for most children. The signs that become apparent are not constant, and they are differently not standard to every child with the disorder. In any case, once these signs are detected, you should bring your child to medical experts who can treat the symptoms and help your child live a normal life.

Is Autism Automatically a Social Death?

November 22nd, 2011  |  Published in Sexual Health

A significant number of people think that the 1988 film Rain Man is an excellent source of information regarding the issue of autism. But in fact, it isn’t. Instead, according to a BBC report in 2007, films like Rain Man may have installed a number of misconceptions about this brain development disorder. And these misconceptions-some positive, some neutral, most of them damaging-are turning autism into a social stigma. But those who are well versed in the issue of autism know that autism does not automatically spell social death. While it is true that, based on the restrictions the disorder can cause, a child’s life can possibly be different compared to those without the disorder due to autism, it is also possible to make the child’s life as normal as possible.

In the BBC report, a survey said that many people believe people with autism harbor special talents or skills, as if in compensation to the other skills lost. However, this isn’t true. Not every autistic child has particular enhanced skills, like the character from Rain Man (played by Dustin Hoffman) who has eidetic memory. There are also many reports of people with autism excelling in music or the arts due to their enhanced sense of hearing, for instance (it should be noted that most people with the disorder do have overly sensitive hearing). Experts say that these special skills and abilities are, in fact, extremely rare. Unfortunately, many people do not know this, so they expect people with autism to be some sort of savant in a particular field. This causes the social stigma experienced by people with autism to be more severe.

Another cause of this stigma: the expectation that all autistic people are the same. Of course, they aren’t-the disorder affects people in different ways, with varying intensity. Some people with autism have severe symptoms, while others exhibit very few signs. In fact, it is quite possible to be autistic and have the ability to socialize with other people; the effects of the disorder may be evident in other areas. Again, not many people know this. Many generalize autism when, in fact, it is a treacherous disorder with varied end results. For instance, many people, especially in the past, exhibit autistic traits-yet they managed to live their lives normally. While some of aspects of their lives are limited, they function normally in other respects, mainly because the intensity of autism varies.

Just consider the list of people with this disorder, many of which have accomplished great things. Christopher Knowles, for one, is an acclaimed poet (who is well known for his work with theater legend Philip Glass) who was diagnosed with autism. Dan Aykroyd, a well known actor, has a mild Asperger syndrome. Pulitzer Award-winning author Tim Page (well known for his music criticism) also has Asperger.

Basically, the activities of an autistic person naturally depend on what he is most inclined to do, or usually up to what extent he or she is affected by the disorder. There are instances when the disorder is too severe, rendering a person totally unable to do these things. Still, one way to let them do what they can is to prevail against social stigmas. There is nothing be ashamed of about autism. With the proper care and nurture, a child can live fruitful against the odds.

Key Areas That Cause Anxiety Disorder

November 18th, 2011  |  Published in Sexual Health

According to researched in the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), three brain areas of a patient with panic disorder lack a key component which is a chemical messenger system that regulates emotion. Following a series of brain scans done on panic disorder patients to find anxiety disorder treatments, it is revealed that a type of serotonin receptor is reduced by nearly a third in three structures straddling the center of the brain. The finding published in January 2004 in the Journal of Neuroscience, is the first in living humans to show that the receptor, which is pivotal to the action of widely prescribed anti-anxiety medications, may be abnormal in the disorder, and may help to explain how genes might influence vulnerability. This research was conducted by Drs. Alexander Neumeister and Wayne Drevets of the NIMH Mood and Anxiety Disorders Program.

Statistics show that about 2.4 million Americans have panic attack strikes suddenly, and experience feelings of intense fear and physical symptoms sometimes confused with a heart attack. If these symptoms go unchecked, the disorder often sets in motion an unbearable psychological syndrome of agoraphobia, which is avoiding public places. Researches have long suspected that panic disorders are genetic components since it runs in families but the new finding suggests that genes might increase the risk of disorder by coding for decreased expression of the receptors. These findings have evidence in recent animal testing. In 2002, Dr. Rene Hen and her colleagues from Columbia University reported that a strain of gene “knockout” mice, engineered to lack the receptor during a critical period in early development, exhibit anxiety traits in adulthood, such as a reluctance to begin eating in an unfamiliar environment.

Various researches with successful results have enabled the scientists in overcoming panic disorder. Most of the anxiety disorder treatments are concerned with controlling the symptoms panic attacks, reduce their number and severity, and reduce the anxiety and fear associated with having another attack. The effect is doubled if the medication if it is combined with some natural methods of treatments; for example counseling and home treatment, therapy and relaxation courses. Medication choices to treat panic disorder come in the form of SSRIs which are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors such as Prozac, Zoloft and Paxil. Benzodiapines such as Xanax, Valium,
Ativan and Klonopin are also prescribed besides SSRIs. Along with the above mentioned, antidepressants with mixed neurotransmitter effects, such as venlafaxine but this type of medication is only given in later stages. Tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs), such as Tofranil, Norpramin, or Anafranil and Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), such as Marplan, Nardil, or Parnate are also given at a certain level to treat panic attacks.

Most of the medical professionals would prefer a combination of medicine and other approaches. However the best medication for panic disorder is considered to be cognitive-behavioral therapy, which focuses on the way a person thinks and altering certain behavior patterns. It allows the person to build an optimistic approach and would tell the about some efficient ways to handle a panicky situation. Combining these two therapies results in less frequent panic attacks. A combination of anxiety attack medication would make the symptoms disappear in some time. The dosage of medicine and the therapy sessions are generally increased if the patient does not see the results within 6-8 weeks.

Overcoming panic disorder takes quite awhile as it depends on the severity of the case. Normally, medication is continues for a year or longer and then decreased gradually over several weeks. In some cases, panic attacks tend to occur after medication is stopped; hence doctors will continue the medication for a few more months for you just so that you can keep the symptoms under control. Most medical practitioners would advice and recommend patients to seek for therapy and self-relaxation techniques before administering medication to them. This is because once medication is given; the patient might be depended on the drug. Self relaxation methods come in the form of yoga and pilates. A walk on the beach and even jogging can help cope with panic attack and stress. Apart from that, patients are advised to join a group therapy in order to talk their feelings out and share with one another as well as help other people overcome their problems.

As a leading expert in the field of treating anxiety disorder, Beth Kaminski is always on the lookout for ways to treat panic attacks. Prostate Health

To maintain optimal performance in life, prostate health is a must. There are  three main prostate related conditions:

  • Prostatitis
  • BPH (benign prostatic hyperplasia)
  • Cancer

Herbal Prostate HealthPrevention is the best course of action because there is not a single man who is not at risk to developing one or more of these conditions in their lifetime. A commonly made mistake is to think “I won’t happen to me at my age”. An increasing number of young men are developing at least one of these three conditions of the prostate.

Size Matters

The prostate is a small gland located at the base of the bladder, and although you will not even be aware of it in the good times, its presence will become painfully known if swelling takes place. Considering that a majority of men will experience an enlarged prostate to some degree, keeping it in check should be a top health priority. Swelling takes place due to the cumulative effect of the male hormone dihydro-testosterone. The prostate gland is normally the size of a walnut, but it can commonly grow to 175% of its regular size. This can constrict the urethra and interrupts normal urine flow. In severe cases use of a catheter is necessary to empty the bladder, often a painful experience. This condition is called BPH and can easily be prevented with the right supplements.

BPH in itself is not dangerous, but it does seem to increase your risk of developing prostate cancer. Acting now and preventing BPH, or curing it, is tremendously important to your general health! Research has shown that preventing inflammation of the prostate (prostatitis) and BPH also helps to prevent development of prostate cancer. Several different natural vitamins and minerals exist that help you do just this. Getting adequate amounts of these compounds can be challenging through diet alone. You would have to literally eat pounds of different fruits and vegetables to get the necessary amount of these important compounds. There is some good news though: prostate-saving vitamins and minerals are available in concentrated form through supplements. But beware! Most supplements do not provide adequate amounts of the necessary compounds to be effective. Some will contain as little as 1% of your daily requirements!

Good supplements, such as Prostacet, combine different ingredients proven to support good prostate health. Although Prostacet is very effective for men who are already experiencing prostate problems, it is also a good supplement to take as a preventative measure. After all, it is easier to prevent something than to fix it later! Don’t let your prostate slow you down, prevention will keep you and your prostate healthy for life.

Tools for a Healthy Prostate

Years of research has narrowed down the list of the building blocks for a healthy prostate. According to the Mayo clinic lycopene, selenium and vitamin E should be part of a sensible diet for men.

Lycopene is a vitamin-like substance that acts like an antioxidant, which lowers the risk of cancer.

Saw Palmetto has recently been recognized as an effective medicine to treat and prevent benign prostatic hyperplasia (BHP), i.e. non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate gland.

A variety of other natural substances have been found to effectively help men of all ages with their prostate health. A few examples of these are Vitamin E, Echinacea, Nettle Leaf, Parsley Extract, Cayenne Pepper, and Cranberry Extract. Unless you want to have ten different bottles standing in you bathroom, you will have to find a supplement that unites all these substances in one convenient pill. Easier said than done! Most supplements are incomplete, or offer too little of the nutrient to actually make a difference and are mostly filler. An exception to these “hollow supplements” is Prostacet, a powerful and complete supplement to not only treat, but to prevent as well BPH and prostatitis. By preventing and treating these relatively minor conditions, you will also significantly decrease your chance of developing prostate cancer.
