Breast Change and Breast Cancer: a Women?s Health Issue

June 19th, 2010  |  Published in Women's Health

There is a wide incidence of women in the Western world who experience breast changes that are a direct consequence of their menstrual cycle and it is believed that as high as 70 percent of women are so afflicted. These women may find their breasts have become very uncomfortable due to their becoming tender, swollen or lumpy. This is one of the many women’s health issues that need to be studied and understood if one is to be able to treat the ailment and provide much needed succor to the patients. It is important to find an explanation for the condition and know which natural and medical treatments are available for this women’s health issue.

Breast Health: The Facts

Broadly speaking, women’s health issues can be categorized into several important concerns, of which include: breast problems, cystitis, endometriosis, fibroids, heavy periods, hysterectomy, irregular periods, menopause, miscarriage, no periods, osteoporosis, ovarian cysts, PMS, polycystic ovary syndrome, pregnancy, prolapse, thrush and vaginal infections. Women also face problems such as weight control and infertility.

In the case of breast cancer, one can safely say that it is widely prevalent in women living in the United States. This means that such an important women’s health issue needs to be better understood and this involves knowing the stage of the disease, new diagnostic methods versus recurrence, the woman’s age as well as prior treatments. Mostly, different women would respond to the crisis of having breast cancer in different ways but what is most important is for them to know and obtain as much information as possible so that they are better educated about the disease.

It is important that this women’s health issue be taken notice of, and a study of the risk factors involved with contracting breast cancer needs to be undertaken as some factors may have stronger links to breast cancer than others. These important risk factors are: gender, age, personal history of breast cancer, family history of cancer, high breast tissue density, breast hyperplasia, long term estrogen exposure, menopausal hormone replacement therapy, not having children or having first child after age 30, exposure to radiation, Ashkenazi Jewish heritage, genetics as well as diet, environment, and smoking. There is no denying the fact that breast cancer is an important women’s health issue for which no amount of research and development can be said to be enough.

Improving Your Sexual Health

May 20th, 2010  |  Published in Men's Health

As men age, most start suffering a decrease in sex drive. This isn’t as normal as you’d think, men still usually feel as much sexual desire as they did in their middle age. There’s more to this then simply just getting older.

There are many factors that could be to blame, both physical and emotional. Most problems of low libido are mental rather than physical. Stress is the number one cause behind low libido. Any other negative feelings, like guilt or depression, can also be at work.

As men age they lose 10% of testosterone a decade. Many men lose more than this, resulting in a male form of menopause. Millions of men are going through this right this minute without even realizing it. Most of these men are just convinced that they’re just experiencing growing older. There are many other ways that your body is affected by a dip in testosterone, such as a decrease in bone density, an increase in body fat, and balding, but it’s really what it does to a man’s sexual health that he really starts to take notice in.

The male orgasm is a complex experience. The major function of the male orgasm usually includes the ejaculation of sperm. Male orgasm happens at the peak of sexual pleasure, when the various muscle groups contract simultaneously lots of contractions of the pubococcygeus muscle occur along with contractions of the anal sphincter, rectum and perineum, and the ejaculatory ducts and muscles around the penis. The contracting muscles are the key to delivering the load of semen. The first few contractions are intense and close together, occurring at about 0.8 second intervals. As orgasm continues, the contractions reduce in intensity and duration and occur at less frequent intervals.

There’s no need to feel embarrassed or shy if you are concerned with a sexual health issue. Most men are. Yes, it’s true, women love to feel that it’s large, and harder, it turns them on. The penis has two paired cylinders called the Corpora Cavernosa that, when aroused, expand and fill with blood creating the hardness of your erection.

The capacity of your Corpora Cavernosa to fill with blood during arousal limits erection length and thickness, and these functions can decrease as you age. Many factors come into play when it comes to enjoying a fulfilling sexual lifestyle. A lot of men suffer from performance anxiety. They fear weak erections, insignificant ejaculation, short penetration and disappointing orgasms. They feel like there letting down their sexual partner, and themselves. Sex becomes a task, a painful experience that slowly breaks down self confidence away and inhibits you even further from performing sexually.

If you’re ready to reignite your ability to perform sexually, enhance the appearance of your organ and maintain a powerful erection, then Vialis is for you. This is a rapid development that incorporates the hyper exotic aphrodisiac sex enhancer, Black Diamond Truffle. This pheromone rich, underground wonder is thought to be nature’s premier testosterone booster. It also contains avena sativa, clavo huasca and horny goat weed, all proven botanical extracts that support your experience.

Information on Fetal Development

January 18th, 2010  |  Published in Women's Health

How would you like to improve the development of the fetal heart in your baby? This article will give you a great tip emerging in the medical world that’ll help assure fetal development heart health.

During fetal development, a baby relies solely on the mother for all the essential vitamins, nutrients, and calories it needs to grow.

By taking a fish oil supplement high in DHA omega-3, you can make sure that your baby develops a healthy brain and memory and avoids fetal development problems. In fact, it also reduces the chances of he/she ending up with some sort of behavioral or learning disability, such as ADD and ADHD.

DHA omega-3 is a key essential nutrient that cannot be created by the human body. Since this is true, there’s really nowhere to get adequate amount of it besides taking what the mother already has stored in her brain.

Supplementation is recommended for women that are breast-feeding, in order to provide the DHA necessary for healthy brain growth and the development of visual acuity. It also insures that the mother does not suffer from deficiencies.

DHA and EPA omega-3 fatty acids play a major role in the cognitive development of humans, and they are also crucial for the maintenance of healthy brain function and visual acuity. It has been recommended that adults increase the amount of fish in their diet for these reasons, as well as others.

Look for one high in the DHA omega 3, at least twice the amount of the other important one, EPA. Around 250mg of DHA per capsule will be sufficient to provide you with all of these benefits.

Fish oils supplements can be analyzed for mercury and other contaminants, whereas fish and seafood cannot. Even the listed nutritional values of foods are only estimates. It is not possible to analyze a piece of food, without making it inedible.

Other nutrients essential for normal fetal development include protein, folic acid, calcium, iron and recent studies indicate that choline is essential, too. Even a healthy diet may be lacking in some of these essential nutrients. Inadequate nutritional intake can lead to fatigue, as well as depression.

DHA fats also help in improving the eyesight of the child and aid in proper development of the nervous system. In other words, your child will be healthier and smarter if the mother takes fish oil during pregnancy.

DHA helps to develop the cerebral cortex because the cerebral cortex is made up of 15 to 20% DHA. Again DHA goes to make up over fifty per cent of the babies retina.

Folic Acid – A member of the vitamin B group, deficiencies in folic acid during pregnancy has been associated with higher risks of neural tube birth defects like spinal bifida.

It is good to know that you can still get the health boost of fish without the threat of contaminants in the process by getting the benefits of omega 3 fatty acids in the form of these dietary supplements.

Vitamin A – This vitamin helps to fight off infections and promotes normal eye and vision development. The best form of vitamin A is beta carotene, which is also an antioxidant.

Free personal development plan in five points – Personal development articles amd blog

January 11th, 2010  |  Published in Women's Health

AmAre Way ( http://www.amareway.org/ ) is a verb standing for “To Love” in Italian language, a culture which is strongly family-oriented. It is also our personal development plan, which keeps in consideration the power of context:

Aware (Being)
Meditating
Active (Being)
Respectful (Being)
Eating (properly)

If we want to look a bit more under the surface, it also shows we are united in an interconnected universe: there is no (I) Am without (We) are. This is an extremely simple concept to understand, but which has positive effects for a lifetime. If you want to walk this path toward holistic living, just add this blog to your favourites. If you just passed by, and you think you’ll not return, we hope at least you’ll bring with you these simple five steps to happiness, and we hope they will be as beneficial to you as they have been to us.

A – Aware (Being)
Being aware is the process which turns our lives and improves them. It is not a one-time task, it is a life-long exploration. It can start in different ways, from different reasons. Being aware starts with understanding that, while the past made us what we are today, and the future may give us the time to put our skills at the service of our beloved ones, the present is the only tense which really counts, and here the only place where we are. Being aware also means considering the needs and wants of ourselves, the people who are dear to us, the people who do not arise any specific feeling in us, and the ones who we would not rather meet.

M – Meditating
Meditating can be done in a non-sectarian or religious way. Praying is a form of meditation, loving kindness is contemplated in meditation, meditating may also be a way to relax the mind. It can be done standing, sitting, walking, and it has also been said that sleeping may be the most effective form of meditation.

A – Active (Being)
Being active to put in practice what we learn is extremely important. That shows to us if we are motivated enough, and also provide a loop of thinking-acting-rethinking which is the way to progress. Holistic living is a state of mind, and also a state of action. One basic example about the importante of being active. We can find online thousands of tasty recipes, but even if we learn them by heart, they do not feed us. We can also find many advices about empowering people and solving the world’s challenges; words and speeches are as important as the actions they inspire.

R – Respectful (Being)
Being respectful starts with respecting ourselves. By being both objective and loving about who we are, we build the start for improving relationship with the one we care for, and the world. Being respectful with ourselves is implemented in many ways: listening to our body, for signals it may be very comfortable, in need of a rest, etc. Listening to our feelings, needs and wants, and communicate them in a respectful way to our beloved ones. We also need to be respectful of other people, and environment. And respect the power of the context, which is formed by the place and time where events take place.

E – Eating (properly)
Eating properly is self-evident: we are what we eat! Still, even if we heard it many times, we need to remind it to ourselves when we sit at the table. Eating properly is a form of respect towards our body; and also towards the generations which preceded us, and to whom we owe our nativity.

http://www.amareway.org is an Italian verb which stands for “To Love”. It also summarizes what we need to be happy:

Aware (Being)
Meditating
Active (Being)
Respectful (Being)
Eating (properly)

If we want to digg a bit more under the surface, it also shows we are united in an interconnected universe: there is no (I) Am without (We) are. This is an extremely simple concept to understand, but which has positive effects for a lifetime. If you want to walk this path toward holistic living, just add this blog to your favourites. The Benefits of Outsourcing Drug Development to Third Party Pharmaceutical Companies

November 6th, 2009  |  Published in Sexual Health

A large number of pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies are now outsourcing their drug development requirements to independent pharmaceutical development companies. The reason behind this lies in the fact that the development of synthetic medication entails a highly specialized, not to mention costly, process. Companies can save a lot of money, and ensure the quality of their products by passing their technical product formulation processes to expert and experienced pharmaceutical companies.

Independent pharmaceutical product development firms are more likely to have an established technical grasp of the field of drug formulation and development. They will also have adequate experimentation and production tools and facilitates as the employ a team of highly competent and experienced scientists and professional pharmacists. While some drug development companies assist their partner firms only in the actual production of the pharmaceutical product, there are companies that provide comprehensive services, taking over product development right from the earliest stage of chemical discovery and experimentation and up to the evaluation of the effects of the finished product.

Pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies can greatly benefit from employing the services of an independent pharmaceutical development company. By outsourcing their technical processes to these professional firms, the companies can focus more on the entrepreneurial and marketing side of their business.

Since they would not need to spend too much on advanced drug development equipment and laboratories, the company can allocate its budget toward more pressing issues. The company will also be able to keep up with the fast paced pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry with minimized difficulty.

The Different Stages of the Drug Development Process

November 6th, 2009  |  Published in Sexual Health

The drug development process is by no means easy, as it entails a complicated process, which includes three major areas—drug discovery and product development, pre-clinical research and clinical trials.

Drug Discovery

Simply put, it is the process by which drugs are discovered and/or designed. It is a big facet of the fields of biotechnology, medicine and pharmacology and quite understandably so. In order to ascertain the suitability of a compound, it is subjected to a few steps: identification of candidates, synthesis, characterization, screening and assays for therapeutic efficacy. Developments in research and advancements in technology notwithstanding, this stage of drug development is still by far, the longest and most expensive. The information required to even get this stage started requires a lot of time, effort and money.

Pre-Clinical Research

Pre-clinical studies are completed before human testing and are mainly done to determine a drug’s safety profile. This stage primes the drug for human testing, getting concerns such as toxicity and extreme adverse reactions out of the way. Pre-clinical tests are usually administered on microorganisms or animals in conditions that simulate normal human settings.

Clinical Trials

Clinical trials are conducted on human test subjects to collect important safety and efficacy data. Depending on the drug, its proponents and its nature, either volunteers or patients are enrolled into the study. In order to ascertain the safety of the subjects, a study must get the necessary health committee or ethics committee approvals prior to commencement.
