Core Strength Exercises

May 9th, 2012  |  Published in Sexual Health

One of the most crucial aspects of improving your overall performance if you’re a baseball player is core strength training. Advanced core strength techniques will help you improve your overall balance, as well as reduce the chances of getting an injury while swinging, pitching, and throwing. These advanced core strength training tips can help you to become a great power hitter and help you to stay healthy and have a long lasting career.

The core is more than just your abdominals. You have to come to grips with this before you can develop an effective core strength training program. Many define the core as all muscle groups from your groin to your shoulders, including your chest.

Another alternative to exercise the body core is by using the exercise ball. The simplest way to do it is by sitting on the exercise ball which will engage the core muscles. A more extreme exercise is by kneeling beside the ball while the hands on the ball and then rolling forward.

A proper abs workout should be able to most effectively work out the entire mid-section and core, in minimal amount of time with no risk of injuries. Finding such an exercise is very difficult but here are some things you should focus on when planning your core workout.

You should also talk to your doctor about being ready for strength training when you are recovering from surgery, have had no physical exercise

whatsoever prior to your upcoming strength training plans, are pregnant or had given birth less than three months ago.

Core strength is simply about having a strong core muscle group. If your core muscles are weak your body will not work as effectively as it could, resulting in poor posture and injuries to the knees, back and shoulders. By developing your core strength you are not only going to improve your posture (and look much better for it!), decrease the risk of injury but you will also improve your balance and stability. Even when you are only standing on the board you are engaging your core muscles, so think how much you use your core muscles when twisting, turning and rotating on your surfboard out on the waves.

Once a trainee understands optimal muscle balance, serious progress occurs. The muscles and connective tissues of the midsection are the most important for our body function. They serve to protect our vital organs and allow us to move through unpredictable patterns. In short, the more core strength you have, the more movement, stability, and mobility you will have.

Okay, now let’s talk about working the lower back muscles on the ball. The same issues hold true when comparing back extensions on the floor and back extensions on the ball. You have less range of motion on the floor, so you may not achieve the same improvement in strength.

Your upper body is made up of your arms, shoulders, upper back, neck and chest. You can work with free weights or machines to target these specific body parts. The bench press is one obvious method for targeting your chest muscle.

A Do-It-Yourself Guide for Beginners

May 8th, 2012  |  Published in Sexual Health

UV gives you a sexy tan but also causes photo ageing. No need to stay under the sun for hours anymore. Getting a Fake Tan is just as good. In fact, it’s in! You don’t even need to spend hundreds of dollars at saloons to get yourself a glowing skin and a radiant complexion. Yet another advantage is that the new formulae of the artificial tanning products give even better, not to mention faster, results. Indeed, when applied to the skin, these products result in more natural and uniform tones than the effects of natural tans.
Yes, you can now get a perfect suntan all year round, and without even getting out of your home. Sometimes I wonder why we call it Fake Tan. I mean, a tan is a tan, no matter how you obtain it. And here the results are even more stunning. Composed of an active principle called Di Hydroxyl Acetone (DHA), tanning products provoke the oxidization of the superficial cells of the epidermis, thus creating a coloration of skin that stays on average between 4 and 6 days, and then gradually fades away as the skin peels off. These products are available on the market in different forms: cream, milk, serum, fluid, spray, and so on. But personally I prefer creams with moisturizing properties to avoid dehydration of the epidermis, especially for the face. The advantage of sprays, on the other hand, is that – thanks to their ultra-light texture – they adjust
Getting a Fake Tan nowadays not only easy and safe but also almost instant perfectly to the fatty skin around humps and curves in the body.. Trusted cosmetic companies are seeing to it that their tanning products are absolutely risk-free and give you a harmonious tan without the risks bound to tanning in the sun (sunburns, allergies, accelerated ageing or photo ageing, etc.). Because cut-throat competition exists between them, as we are all aware, popular brands of beauty products are all improving their tanning products day by day, allying comfort, lightness and hydration.
Still, a few simple steps and preparations could help you achieve an even better Fake Tan. It is always recommended that you apply a light scrub over your skin and wash it off before the tanning product itself is applied. This will refine your epidermis, especially in areas where the layers of skin are thicker (elbows, knees, etc.). Exfoliating the skin regularly after the tan will equally help eliminate dead cells and unify the complexion. This will also avoid the piling up of layers of dead cells over the skin, which will obviously make your complexion appear dry and dull. Regular exfoliation will ensure that your tan looks fresh and help maintain that glow you love so much.
Conclusively, we could say that having a Fake Tan is definitely better and safer than long hours of exposure in the sun, especially as UV rays get more aggressive day by day due to the depletion of the ozone layer. Anyway, in many parts of the world you don’t have the sun all year round, but you would still want to have a great tan!

Discover Ways On How To Look Taller Than You Are

December 27th, 2011  |  Published in Sexual Health

Are you sick and tired of people looking at you as if you were a menace to society? It is the height isn’t it? Well, if you can’t have those routinary exercises and nutritional diet fit your daily lifestyle, then you can look into possible ways of making yourself look taller than you are right now.

The secret to look taller lies in good posture. Having a very good posture makes you take advantage of the physical, as well as, the psychological benefits that it could give. This is one of the main reasons why people look as if they were short in height, because they are not able to maintain a good posture that would show how tall they really are. Posture has to do with you standing up, sitting down and lying down.

When you stand up, you may want to have one leg higher that the other to maintain your balance. In sitting down, you have to have a high back support, while your feet stays flat on the floor. You have to remember that when you sit down you need to do some stretch ups to maintain the blood flow in the body. In lying down. probably when you are about to take a nap, or at bed time, the best position that you can look into is lying flat on your back and have your neck slightly elevated. This lying down position would help relax your back and releases the tension.

By continuously doing these simple instructions, you will be able to improve your posture, as well as strengthen your spine.  This would then lead to a more pleasant appearance that would make you look taller each coming day.

Now, you can also look into the clothes that you wear just so you may look taller than you are. Tall people have broader shoulders, so you may want to wear clothes with shoulder pads to achieve that look. Avoid those bulky clothes, with those low-waist pants, and are heavy to look at. These clothes makes your height appear shorter that you really are. Your shoes can actually make a difference, so wear shoes that would make you look taller.

There are a lot of ways for you to look into so you can look taller than you are. However , you have to keep in mid, if you want to grow taller naturally then, do get a load of those exercises, healthy foods, and complete sleep. A healthy lifestyle would be your stepping stone for a taller appearance.

Tai Chi Chi Kung / Qi Gong

December 27th, 2011  |  Published in Sexual Health

Tai Chi Chi Kung / Qi Gong by definition refers to Tai Chi energy work. In this post I will try to shed some light on what is meant by the Chi Kung / Qi Gong energy work aspect of the practice?

Tai Chi Chi Kung / Qi Gong is often taught as a set of moves separate from the Tai Chi sets. I have found that the vast majority of the time these other moves do not come with much of an explanation of why and how they are any different from the Tai Chi in the Tai Chi sets and that the moves by themselves do not impart any kind of ability different than what is already available in the Tai Chi sets.

So, what is Tai Chi Chi Kung / Qi Gong? First of all the Tai Chi moves are just Tai Chi choreography or moves until you begin to actually to practice the energetic aspects of the art. The real practice of Tai Chi is Chi Kung / Qi Gong. As soon as you start practicing the energetic aspects the Tai Chi so to speak then you are really practicing Tai Chi (probably with the moves) and not just the moves. At that same moment you are now practicing and or applying the Chi Kung / Qi Gong.

An obvious question at this point might be so what makes Tai Chi Chi Kung / Qi Gong? That is a very big question because the answer could and does fill books. I will try to shed some light on it here.

First of all in Tai Chi Chi Kung / Qi Gong are the physical structural alignments which are a necessity for the proper flow of energy through and around the body including through the acupuncture meridians of the body. This is part of the reason that so much emphasis gets put on the moves at the beginning of a students training and why it stays an important issue in training as one progresses. Incorrect and bad posture impedes and blocks energy flow so it is important to get it right. While you are learning and working on this you are not really performing Tai Chi yet but are simply learning something you need to understand to perform real Tai Chi.

One of the first things you learn in Tai Chi and that is a necessity in Tai Chi Chi Kung / Qi Gong is known as Sung which translates as relaxation both inside and out. Any tension in the body will impede or stop the flow of energy through the body. This can be structural tension (bad or improper positioning), physical tension (like holding tension in your shoulders or neck simply because you do not allow them to relax) or mental or emotional tension that is manifested in the body such as jaws clenched and a tight face when someone is having a bad day.

So, for proper Tai Chi and Tai Chi Chi Kung / Qi Gong you first need Sung relaxation and proper posture. Once you have these you can really perform Tai Chi and Tai Chi Chi Kung / Qi Gong.

The next step in solo Tai Chi practice is all Tai Chi Chi Kung / Qi Gong. You begin to work different aspects of energy within your Tai Chi both for fighting and for self defense purposes. There are approximately 36 different primary expressions of energy in Tai Chi. You use your mind to direct the internal movement and chi into an expression. That expression is known as Jing. Jing is an expression of Chi or energy hence it is energy work. A few jing expressions are well known and some are quite obscure.

Uterine Fibroids – Here Are the Basics

December 24th, 2011  |  Published in Sexual Health

O.K. So what are they?

Uterine Fibroids (leiomyomas) are common noncancerous (benign) tumors that occur within the muscle walls of the uterus (womb). Uterind fibroids can be the size of a pinhead and show no signs or symptoms that they are there, or they can be very painful and grow to a 10 inch diameter.

There are four types of uterine fibroids:

Subserosal Fibroids, develop under the outside uterine covering. Intramural Fibroids, develop within the uterine wall. Submucosal Fibroids, develop under the uterus lining. Pedunculated Fibroids, develop on a “stalk” or stem-like structure attached to the inside or the outside of the uterus.

Fibroids may grow as a single nodule or in clusters. They may range in size from 1 mm to more than 20 cm (8 inches) in diameter. Fibroids in the uterus are a common cause of heavy menstrual bleeding and pelvic pain and pressure in women. During pregnancy, fibroids can greatly increase in size.

What are the Symptoms?

Some women with uterine fibroids experience no symptoms at all. Symptoms may include excessive and prolonged menstrual bleeding, pain, abdominal mass effect, frequent urination or urgency or constipation and many others.

When symptoms appear, they can vary greatly, depending on the size and exact location of the fibroid tumors. Women sometimes underestimate the impact of their symptoms because they have become accustomed to the excessive bleeding, pain and the pressure that fibroids can cause. Also, for some reason African-American women develop symptoms faster and with greater severity than other women.

What does one do about them?

Uterine fibroids often do not require treatment, but when they are problematic, they may be treated surgically, non-surgically, with medication or with alternative treatments. The very heavy menstrual bleeding, clotting and pelvic pain, that fibroids sometimes cause leads many women to seek treatment.

What about treatment?

There are several different types of treatments:

Hormonal: Uterine fibroid tumors require estrogen and progesterone to grow, and without these hormones, fibroid tumors usually shrink in size. Hormonal treatments (such as birth control pills) may help control excessive menstrual bleeding caused by fibroids in some patients.

Non-surgical: Uterine Fibroid Embolization, UFE – Known medically as uterine artery embolization, approaches the treatment of fibroids by blocking the arteries that supply blood to them causing them to shrink or disappear. Uterine fibroid embolization is a more permanent solution than hormone therapy. When hormonal treatment is stopped the fibroid tumors usually grow back. UFE (Uterine Fibroid Embolization) isn’t considered to be surgery, but it is generally done at a hospital or specialized clinic. This uterine fibroids treatment procedure usually takes between 1 and 3 hours, depending on how long it takes to position the catheter and how easily the catheter can be positioned in the arteries to the uterus.

Although uterine artery embolization has been in use for two decades to treat bleeding after childbirth, it wasn’t until early 1997 that the technique was introduced as a potential treatment for uterine fibroids.

Follow-up studies have shown that nearly 90 percent of women who have their fibroids treated by uterine fibroid embolization experience either significant or complete resolution of their fibroid-related symptoms.

Surgical: Surgery for uterine fibroids involves either removing the fibroids (myomectomy) or the entire womb (hysterectomy). Surgery has risks, including bleeding and infection. About a third of the more than 500,000 hysterectomies done in the U.S. each year are done because of fibroids. Most of the women having these operations are said to be unaware of the non-surgical options.

Alternative treatment: Alternative treatments for uterine fibroid tumors also abound. Naturopaths, homeopaths, acupuncturists, chiropractors, and other alternative health care providers have treatments to offer as well. While some of these are not as well supported by scientific studies that prove effectiveness, the treatments are usually safer and provide a less invasive alternative than surgery.

Remember that some medical treatments for uterine fibroid tumors can affect your fertility. For this and other reasons it is very important to seriously investigate and consider alternative treatments for uterine fibroids.

Always seek the advice of your physician or other qualified health provider prior to starting any new treatment or with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition.

Rotator Cuff Symptoms – Recognise Them Early And You Can Avoid Suffering a Great Deal Of Pain

December 20th, 2011  |  Published in Sexual Health

All too often we ignore aches and pains and carry on as normal. Most of us have minor aches every now and again and most of us just carry on with life regardless. If we stopped work each time we had a pain the world would soon grind to a stop.

But don’t ignore a painful shoulder, especially if it is consistent. A Rotator Cuff Problem will|Rotator Cuff problems} often give us plenty of warning before they get bad and stop us in our tracks. If you notice weakness, stiffness, pain or swelling in your shoulder it may be time to take it easy and start the healing process.

There are someshoulder problems that begin as the result of a knock or fall, most begin because of simple |wear and tear on the joint, either as we age or caused by a repetitive stressful movement. Okay, You can’t always do anything to stop the accidental injury but we can take early measures to cut down the damage from wear and tear. As we age our rotator cuff gets weaker through lack of use. We hold ourselves differently to how we did as youngsters, our {posture|shape gradually changes over the years. I only need to look at my waist to confirm that.

As the rotator cuff gradually gets weaker we become more prone to shoulder injuries. The right sort of physical therapy done early on to strengthen the rotator cuff can go a long way towards stopping shoulder injuries. Although these are a small group of muscles {they are key to having strong shoulders and once we get past fifty we ignore them at our peril.

So prevention is definitely better than cure, but just in case you’ve left it too late, what are the rotator cuff symptoms? Firstly, weakness and pain in the damaged shoulder. This might only occur when you use your shoulder joint. The commonest causes of discomfort are reaching up, or reaching for an object. Whenever you reach up or out the rotator cuff starts to work at its hardest. If you are having problems getting to sleep because of a painful shoulder, this is yet another classic sign. Lying on your bad shoulder can be painful, but lying on the other side so that your painful arm drops in front of you can be equally uncomfortable.

If the pain is continuous, it might well be telling you that you have a badly torn rotator cuff.

Most rotator cuff problems can be treated with rest followed by physical therapy but don’t rush out and sign up for a gym. These are a small group of muscles that need very specific exercise to build them up using either no weights or very small weights and physical therapy that are designed specifically for group of muscles.

So whether it’s simply shoulder pain or a full blown rotator cuff injury, you will almost definitely end up exercising the rotator cuff as part of your therapy. Whether that is before or after surgery really depends on whether or not you listen to your body and heed the warning signs.

Often, when we feel run down or just don’t have the energy to feel like doing something productive, it is common place nowadays to go for the most convenient food available to satisfy those cravings. Sound familiar? The problem here isn’t that the body doesn’t have enough food, although you feel hungry. Instead, often your body is telling you that it is lacking nutrition, which most convenience foods do not have. The solution is to get that nutrition through supplementation, particularly with Organic Vitamins because they are the purest form of concentrates from a variety of essential nutrients. The fact of the matter is that most of the food we eat today is processed, and as a result it is stripped of all the pure organic vitamins and minerals that it once had.

Turning to organic vitamins have also been shown to release natural energy stores within the body, which has been shown to help people stay active. As a result, of staying active and having the energy to maintain that activity, many people begin to lose weight or tone their bodies as a beneficial side effect. There are some other non organic vitamins that also have a lot of potential. However, as a result of research with regard to how they are manufactured and processed, often the body will not utilize all the minerals and nutrients in those types of vitamins. The unused portion of those non organic vitamins is quite literally flushing money down the toilet, especially if they claim to be time released because when they are done releasing, it is in a part of the intestines that cannot utilize all the benefits. This fallacy leads people to believe they are getting all the benefits on the label, where in fact they are actually absorbing only a very small amount of the nutrients available in the vitamin.

Contrary to what a lot of people believe, not all organic vitamins are created equally. For example, there is a reason someone can spend the same amount on a bucket of vitamins and someone else can spend the same amoutn on a month’s supply. This is because, like with most things in life, you get exactly what you pay for. When most people talk about vitamins these days, they are typically referring to a multivitamin because they have the most benefits to the body. However, there are vitamins that contain nutrients which target specific parts of the body. For example, most sports nutrition organic vitamins are quickly absorbed by the blood and carried out to the joints or muscle fibers which allows for faster recovery and more energy to those parts of the body when it’s needed. Similarly, there are a lot of weight management organic vitamins that can affect different parts of the body, such as increasing the heart rate or preventing absorption into the stomach or digestive track for example. Whichever organic vitamin is right for your particular needs, it is important to realize that getting enough nutrition into your diet is critically important to live a long and happy life.

For a long time I put health and fitness on the back burner in my life for until a doctor’s visit made me realize I was severely shortening my life with bad eating habits. After trying several different things, I chose to go with organic vitamins. I found that they quite literally changed my life by giving me the energy I needed to turn things around for the better.
