Rotator Cuff Symptoms – Recognise Them Early And You Can Avoid Suffering a Great Deal Of Pain

December 20th, 2011  |  Published in Sexual Health

All too often we ignore aches and pains and carry on as normal. Most of us have minor aches every now and again and most of us just carry on with life regardless. If we stopped work each time we had a pain the world would soon grind to a stop.

But don’t ignore a painful shoulder, especially if it is consistent. A Rotator Cuff Problem will|Rotator Cuff problems} often give us plenty of warning before they get bad and stop us in our tracks. If you notice weakness, stiffness, pain or swelling in your shoulder it may be time to take it easy and start the healing process.

There are someshoulder problems that begin as the result of a knock or fall, most begin because of simple |wear and tear on the joint, either as we age or caused by a repetitive stressful movement. Okay, You can’t always do anything to stop the accidental injury but we can take early measures to cut down the damage from wear and tear. As we age our rotator cuff gets weaker through lack of use. We hold ourselves differently to how we did as youngsters, our {posture|shape gradually changes over the years. I only need to look at my waist to confirm that.

As the rotator cuff gradually gets weaker we become more prone to shoulder injuries. The right sort of physical therapy done early on to strengthen the rotator cuff can go a long way towards stopping shoulder injuries. Although these are a small group of muscles {they are key to having strong shoulders and once we get past fifty we ignore them at our peril.

So prevention is definitely better than cure, but just in case you’ve left it too late, what are the rotator cuff symptoms? Firstly, weakness and pain in the damaged shoulder. This might only occur when you use your shoulder joint. The commonest causes of discomfort are reaching up, or reaching for an object. Whenever you reach up or out the rotator cuff starts to work at its hardest. If you are having problems getting to sleep because of a painful shoulder, this is yet another classic sign. Lying on your bad shoulder can be painful, but lying on the other side so that your painful arm drops in front of you can be equally uncomfortable.

If the pain is continuous, it might well be telling you that you have a badly torn rotator cuff.

Most rotator cuff problems can be treated with rest followed by physical therapy but don’t rush out and sign up for a gym. These are a small group of muscles that need very specific exercise to build them up using either no weights or very small weights and physical therapy that are designed specifically for group of muscles.

So whether it’s simply shoulder pain or a full blown rotator cuff injury, you will almost definitely end up exercising the rotator cuff as part of your therapy. Whether that is before or after surgery really depends on whether or not you listen to your body and heed the warning signs.

Fast Weight Loss Tips For Women

December 18th, 2011  |  Published in Sexual Health

 Success Stories:Click here

The weight loss industry is one of the most profitable in the United States, and it is no wonder why. With more than 60 percent of women in the United States being overweight according to 2007 estimates of National Center for Health Statistics of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the majority of women in the U.S. are seeking to lose more than a few extra pounds! Fad diets are particularly attractive to women as they are new, exciting, and promise fast and easy results. Unfortunately, permanent weight loss is neither fast nor easy for most women.

Women know that we lose weight differently than men. Our food metabolizes more slowly and we have a natural propensity to store body fat. We also know that we do not have hours a day to devote to weight loss. Why, then, do women get sucked into diet plans that are created by (and for) men or those who spend their lives devoted to exercise?

The real reason You are still fat Click here

The weight loss solution for women is to eat less and to exercise more. It sounds simplistic because it is, but the execution is much more complex than the plan.

The first steps in any woman’s weight loss plan is to develop a strategy for losing weight. Women must ask themselves the following questions: How much do I weigh? How much should I weigh? How much can I realistically expect to lose each week until I reach my goal?

Download This Guide Click here

The next step is to learn about portions and to begin practicing portion control. No expensive self-help books must be purchased and no calorie calculating tools are necessary; women must simply read the serving sizes on packaged products and use their existing measuring tools to determine appropriate amounts. Most women will be surprised and even discouraged to learn how small the serving sizes are, but after time the body will become accustomed to the smaller portions.

In order to be successful in a weight loss program, women must begin to exercise. Walking is an excellent exercise for women of all shapes, sizes, and ages. For those who have never exercised before or haven’t exercised in a very long time, walking can be the best step to beginning a fitness routine. Eventually, women should incorporate light weight training and heavier cardiovascular exercise into their fitness programs as well, but this does not have to happen immediately. The goal is not to overdo and burn yourself out: the goal is to become healthy for the rest of your life.

Wii Fit Plus Review: A Great, Fun Way to Stay in Shape

December 9th, 2011  |  Published in Sexual Health

Two of the greatest challenges many people have when they try to get in shape is monotony and boredom.  The Wii Fit changes all that.  Wii Fit is getting people in great shape because the exercises are fun, diverse, and entertaining.

I recently saw my friend Larry who I had not seen in over a year.  The last time that I saw Larry he was looking in great shape and well below his 43 years.  In fact, he looked so good I inquired about what he was doing.

“Well,” he exclaimed, “I’ve enrolled in this new exercise class at the gym and it gets me in great shape.”  I like to get my workouts at the workout room in my house or outside in the sun so I do not belong to a gym.  But, after I last saw Larry, he almost had me convinced.  Whatever program he was on was certainly working.

That was then.

When I saw Larry last week, he was back to his former self if not a little heavier.  He lamented about his physique which had been so great the previous year.

“What happened with the program?” I asked him.

He replied, “It just got too routine and boring.  Plus, driving to the gym was taking too much time.”

Larry is proof that getting in shape sometimes is much easier than staying in shape.  Workouts become tedious, routine, boring, expensive, and take up a whole lot of time.  However, staying in shape is so important for vitality and longevity in your life.

This is where Wii Fit Plus comes in.

Wii Fit Plus adds variety to your routine.  There are several forms of exercises from which to choose:  warm ups, cardio, strength, yoga, and more.  One day you can work your respiratory system with a great cardio workout and the next you can build up your muscles with strength training.  Following that, you may wish to choose yoga or a variety of mini routines that you can setup to focus on certain areas.

I love the pre-set routines offered by Wii.  You can choose workout durations of 20, 30, or 40 minutes that are different everyday.  This is about the amount of time that it would take to get to the gym and back.  With the Wii Fit Plus, you are already done with your workout in that amount of time.

But probably the best feature is the automatic goal setting and progress tracking.  At the gym, you work with your trainer to create a plan.  Then, you often carry that piece of paper around with you and have to manually track your progress.  Not with this game though.  The Wii Fit Plus tracks your progress so that you can see where you have been and, most importantly, where you are going.

It is no small wonder that the Wii Fit Plus (make sure you get the Balance Board option as it adds many new balancing workout) is a regularly one of the top rated Wii games. It provides you an opportunity not only to get in great shape, but to stay in great shape.

Wii Fit Plus has been selected as one of the Best Christmas Gifts for 2009. It makes a great Christmas Gift for Her 2009 and for him as well. The author of this article, Richard Mas, is a retail specialist and senior editor at The Christmas Store Online.

6 Tips For A Healthy Dinner Out

December 3rd, 2011  |  Published in Sexual Health

Ever wonder how you can possibly lose weight when the average dinner out contains over 1,000 calories? Well, don’t fret! Keeping yourself in shape when dining out is simply a matter of ordering the right menu.

Below are 6 tips for having a healthy dinner out (while still enjoying your meal like normal!):

- Watch Your Drinks – By not ordering an alcoholic beverage, you’ve saved yourself a considerable number of calories. Try sipping iced tea sweetened with a noncaloric sweetener, a diet soft drink, or water with lemon. You’ll be glad you did when you consider the calorie savings.

- Have A Salad – One of the best menus to have is salad. Not only will it fill you up so you’ll consume fewer calories overall, but it will also give you a hefty dose of antioxidants which are heart healthy. Be sure to ask your waitress to hold the croutons and cheese which will further reduce your caloric load. Also, choose your dressing wisely. Avoid cream based dressings and go for the vinegar based ones. You also have the option of using vinegar and olive oil which is heart healthy.

- Don’t Order An Appetizer Unless Necessary – Do you know that some appetizers have more calories and fat than the main course? Plus, many appetizers are fried and served with heavy sauces which will add to your intake of saturated fat as well as trans fats and calories. It’s not a healthy way to start your meal.

– Choose The Right Kind Of Foods – Go for broiled and grilled rather than fried. Not only will you save calories and fat grams, you’ll also avoid trans fats which are so prevalent in fried foods. Instead, consider asking for a doubles order of vegetables with your entree. Very few Americans are getting the 7-9 servings of fruits and vegetables recommended for optimal health. Plus, by avoiding the starch, you’ll be reducing your caloric and carbohydrate load. Also, stick to tomato based sauces rather than cream based and you’ll enjoy a considerable calorie savings. Lastly, ask for the sauce to be served in a separate dish on the side so you can control the amount you eat.

- Don’t Overeat – Today, many restaurants are serving larger quantities of food than in the past. If this is the case, put aside a portion of your entree at the beginning of the meal to take home with you. If you remove it from your plate before you start eating, you’ll be less tempted to overeat.

- Say “No” To Sugary, Fatty Desserts – Instead, go for a low fat or low carbohydrate dessert selection such as a low carb cheesecake. These are wise choices for the health conscious eater and still allow you to end the meal on a sweet note. If a healthy dessert option isn’t available, try a cup of coffee with skim milk to help satiate your desire for something sweet.

The next time you go out for dinner, keep the above tips in mind. You will be surprised how many calories you are able to slash out of your meal just by ordering the right menus! Happy healthy eating!

Training Tips For Losing Fat

November 27th, 2011  |  Published in Sexual Health

Losing fat is a very difficult task for many peoples who do no want or dont have time for regular exercising. Of course there people who so scared of getting fat and so they go ahead and starve themselves just to keep in shape. There are various aspects that lead one’s body to accumulate fat. These aspects may incude:

Blood Sugar Levels

Low amounts of calories in the body trigger bloodsugar levels. This is often characterised by feeling tired, irritability, restlessness and anxiety. All these cause one to have a craving for something sweet and rich in carbohydrates. This is beccause the body needs glucose which is needed to provide energy for the bodily functions yet the supply is minimal. The brain and the central nervous system are the main beneficiaries of glucose. The brain is known to consume close to 2/3 of the glucose supply when one is active or one is asleep. This urge to eat sweet foods is the mechanism of the body to get one to eat in vast amounts. As one consumes more and more food, the blood sugar raises to very high levels triggering insulin to start deploying glucose to the muscles and liver areas. This is good for the proper functioning of the body. However, some people tend to overeat. Overeating leads to glucose being directed in the fat cells to be stored as a reserve. This reserve is hardly utilised and thus more accumulation will result in one getting fat.

The Serotonin Levels

Serotanin is obtained from tryptophan. It is used as a nuerotransmiter for the brain and the nervous system. A good level of serotanin in the blood ensures that one feels okay and the sleep pattern proceed in the required form. Everyone has in one time or the other been awoken from sleep by hunger pangs; this is a result of low serotanin levels disrupting the sleep to inform you that you need carbohydrates. One may argue that the carbohydrates will make them fatter but this situation indicates low calorie levels that require carbohydrate intervention.

It is therefore that bodybuilders need to take a light carbohydrate say a snack before sleep in order to ensure better sleep patterns through appropriate levels of serotanin.

The Muscle Protein and the Metabolism Issue

When the body is deprived of energy, the muscles are often broken down to create glucose for the body especially the brain. Some people have heard that ketone bodies are at times broken down to provide energy for the brain. This is not entirely true as the brain will continue to only utilise glucose and hence the muscles will still be used for that.

The body however does not advocate for muscle breadown and so it will tend to slow down the matebolic in order to reduce most energy requirements for as long as possible. As the muscles breakdown, the energy requirements are lowered, fewer calories are burnt and hence they are stored as fat. This explains why low calorie diets are discouraged while one is trying to cut excess weight.

The Lipoprotein Lipase Issue

The body has the system of recovery whereby it can gain back the weight it lost in months in just a few days. This is enble through an enzyme called lipoprotein lipase which is developed whenever one undereats for long periods of time.

After that period is over, they work by converting whatever meal you take to fat.

Malnutrition of the Borderline type

This type of malnutrition occurs in candidates who are overzelous to diet down their weight. It has several characteristics such:

Water retention which is dangerous since it may be interpreted as weight and thus further efffort will be put in order to fight weight gain.

Iron deficiency resulting to borderline anemia is also a common phenomenon. Lack of various nutrients causes the body to trigger hunger in an effort to suppplement these nutrients from food.

Poststarvation-Hyperphagia

Another factor is Poststarvation hyperphagia. This is a heightened hunger feeling that is particularly hard to ignore. This makes one eat alot leading to further fat deposition.

Puberty: Who Needs It? (Growing Up Smart Body Fact #20)

November 25th, 2011  |  Published in Sexual Health

My best friend grew a mustache when he was 13. And, as I remember, Debbie in middle school looked a lot older than her 12 years suggested. How did that happen? It’s all about puberty, of course.

As adults, we know puberty is part of growing up. Our children, however, still have to face the physical and emotional changes it brings. And whether they admit it or not, every child has questions about the process at some point. That’s where parents come in.

Puberty isn’t as tough if your kids understand a few basics. To kick things off, here is a short article for that young man or woman in your house. For more information, we recommend getting your child one of the many great specialty books about growing up that are available these days. Good luck!

“Puberty is the name for the time when your body begins to develop and change. Growing up to be an adult means that a lot of big changes are on the way. It also means taking responsibility for the care and health of your body.

The big changes will probably start when you’re 10 to 15 years old. But that’s not true for everyone. You could get started earlier or even a little later. Don’t worry if your best friend looks older and more grown-up. You’ll catch them. Puberty starts and finishes on its own schedule—not yours.

Once puberty does begin, your body will seem to have a mind of its own. Your body will change and at times you’ll grow so fast your shirtsleeves and pant legs will always be too short. Some young men and women can grow 4 or more inches in a year and suddenly stop. But, wait! Even after you think you’re done, you could still grow a little more.”
You probably wonder what you’ll look like after all the changes are over. Heredity is what determines the shape of your nose, how big your feet are, and how tall you’ll be. If your mom and dad are tall and thin, then you’ll probably be tall and thin, too. But, nothing is for certain. To know for sure, you just have to wait and see.

Author and publisher, Frank Hawkins, is passionate about helping young people grow up healthy and wise. It’s no surprise, then, that he co-founded Boy’s Guide Books in 2007 to do just that. What started out as a single book Frank wrote for his son has turned into a popular and respected series of “how-to” books trusted by young men and women everywhere.

Boy’s Guide Books publishes “how-to” books for children and teens. Through our books, blog, and social network, we offer practical, straightforward, no-nonsense information and advice about health, hygiene, fitness, nutrition, and everything in-between.

Lower Cholesterol Levels

November 12th, 2011  |  Published in Sexual Health

Cardiovascular disease is considered one of the most feared diseases, almost in any part of the world record shows the numbers of people who die with this disease increases every year.
